Cyberinfrastructure for Climate Change Monitoring

       Climate change is any long-term significant change in the "average weather" that a given region experiences. With the climate change cyberinfrastructure, scientists are able to track the current and future climate, gain insights on how and why it is changing, and predict the future climate. This project is focused on investigating a cyberinfrastructure model that connects sensors, networks, and database for climate change monitoring. The objectives include 1) design efficient and scalable data aggregation algorithm and secure and reliable data routing algorithm in wireless sensor networks to blend the collected information from the local networks into a big, global picture; 2) design and standardize the interconnectivity technique to integrate the existing, commercially-available, heterogeneous wire/wireless networks; 3) provide a high-reliable data storage scheme for the database servers and a friendly, easily accessible interface with the distant users.
